I hope our member J. Barker will not angry with me when I post some of his photos here. I can only envy him because I can enjoy Emily only during my holiday but he can meet and enjoy Emily during holiday and work too.
One of his messages on twitter says that we should contact him to book Emily. So, although after Zurich my wallet is empty please book Emily for me or a few of forum Emily's fans. I know that audience would be really small but on the other hand full of most faithful and devoted fans. I promise I come anywhere (even to US). ;D
One of his messages on facebook says: "Looking for interesting opportunities for Emily Bear to perform during the London Olympics." (Olympic Games 27 July-12 Aug 2012). I am very curious now.
Emily Bear, a 10 year old piano prodigy from United States, was invited to play at this year's edition of the show. She accompanied some of the songs on the piano, played her own compositions and even skated a bit, in the finale.
Emily, was it the first skating show you've ever seen? If not what do you think makes "Art on Ice" different from other skating shows? I have seen other ice shows live before and my sister is a figure skater. Art on Ice is very different from anything I have seen because of the mix of the live music with skaters of such high level. Combining the live music with the skating was very unique and getting to collaborate with the skaters and to see how they would interpret music that I composed was very exciting.
Did you know any of the skaters before you came to Switzerland? Not personally, but I watched videos of them skating. They are amazing skaters, it was an honour to perform and create with them!
What was it like to play for the skaters? Was it harder than to perform alone? What do you think, who needs to "adjust" when a musician and a skater perform together? It was amazing to play for the skaters. It is different than performing alone for timing with the choreography. I memorized the skaters' choreography and would watch them as I played so I could shape the song to their moves and work with the skaters to make it flow together. I think the skaters usually have everything timed exactly to the recorded music but I wanted to give them flexibility so if they wanted to take a little more time on a move I would watch them and time my music to make it work for them.
Name one or two show numbers you loved the most and why. I loved "Diversity" because it was cool to see how the skaters interpreted my music. I also loved "My Body is a Cage" and working with Stéphane Lambiel! The "Summertime/Mess Around" medley was also fun - and I got to play with Gary Scott & Art on Ice Band!!
You put your skates on at the end of the show. Whose idea was it? And weren't you afraid? Two weeks before we left for Switzerland we got an email asking if I might want to skate in the finale of the show. I asked my Mom because I hadn't skated since I was 5 years old. Mom said "yes" and I took a couple of lessons with my sister's skating teacher and practised a few times. I was so excited to skate in the finale. My favourite part was when Stéphane Lambiel spun me around on the ice!
I still think that they booked Emily for this show was one of the best ideas because Emily moved it to higher level with her incredible music and personality.
And I agree with Emily Diversity and My body is a cage acts have been the best two acts of the show.
And to last Emily's sentence "My favourite part was when Stéphane Lambiel spun me around on the ice!" I would tell Emily: that part wasn't only your favourite part of show, not only yours. ;D It was (like we say) berry on the cake of the show.
yes you are right in US/UK it is: The icing on the cake (or The frosting on the cake?). and in Slovak (translated into English word by word): The cherry on the cake (not berry I got it wrong a bit).
eulenspiegel2: most things have some delay because of the custom service...and very likely Emily and Abigail did not pay for speed shifting/transport...

Ursula: Unfortunately I can't read the German forum. Sigh. Too bad they haven't said anything. You'd think their lawyers would come out with a statement at the least. And they keep posting on social media like everything is normal.

Ursula: Also why is that other forum in German. Why not English?

eulenspiegel2: it is a German forum...about German pop singer... you may be surprised...but the USA is not the center of the world - it is like US people coming to Europe wondering why not signs in English ..

ursus: Ursula, Google Translate works very well if you translate from German into English and you just need to understand the meaning of what was written. It does still require an understanding of German if you want to use it to post in that language.

ursus: IIRC B&B's lawyers have until 9/23 to respond to the lawsuit. It would not make sense for them to make a public statement before that. B&B themselves have undoubtedly been instructed not to say anything either. That makes sense to me.

mastersgttom: For the benefit of all the members and the guests who visit this site be advised that there is a You Tube video out there of Barlow and Bear doing a live stream. The video was posted by Epic Wonderland. Where she got it I have no clue.

mastersgttom: The video of the live stream cannot be found on any of their social media platforms. At least from any of my feeble attempts. The video is a bit hard to watch because the audio is totally out of sync with the video.

mastersgttom: What I got out of the video was that it had nothing to do with Moana. They were very mum about their work on that movie. Bling Ring came up in some of the comments. A bit odd that they have a live stream out there, writing music, and not making it public.

mastersgttom: Wow! I just noticed that it has been a little over a year since anyone has posted anything in this Shoutbox. Eluenspiegel was the last one. I messaged him this discovery a week ago but haven't heard back. He used to be the most active member here.
