Today is the 54th birthday of Irene Cara
So here are two songs from the movie "Fame" ( 1980) which made her famous. I grew up with this movie and the spin off tv serie. The remake is trash.
Both songs were nominated for an Oscar.
The theme song "Fame" got it.
Here the movie scene.
"Out here on my own"
Here also the final scene.
"I sing my body electric"
Or here jamming during lunch.
Sometimes I don't understand the movie industrie. Why creating a trash remake. The original movie is incredible.I can only recommend it!!!!
comment to the street video, cymbalman89 nailed it! cymbalman89 vor 2 Monaten i wish more young people knew about this now. this movie is dark, gritty, raw, and not sanitized as to what adolescence is. and it is WAY better than glee or smash or that high school musical crap.
As I wrote there was a TV spin of with some actors from the movie. Here are two songs from my favourite episode( as I learned in youtube not only for me)
Jimmy Osmond -Penny Lane(Beatles)
Jimmy Osmond -Irene Cara
Thats it-))))

Thanks for the translation.. appreciate it...
Many challenges in life.. for David and Emily and all of us.. They make us who we are and are becoming..
Varied experiences deepen us, I think.... Why a good education involves learning things we are not really interested in currently.. to broaden our understanding..
I hated History and especially English as a child but lean on them both heavily now.. even economics was miserable for me but use it daily.. to make sense of many things..
It was studying music I thought was silly.. but it was not.. Now as an older man I have matured in my music appreciation. Opera and Ballet were to me "funny" even comedic as a child.. But not so now.. What is strange to me now is younger people that I know, extreme ignorance of music.. not all but most..
David's playful even fun demeanor in playing music that is nice.. Thats another reason why I appreciate Emily and Anna Graceman and Jackie Evancho and few others ability to have fun.. doing it..
They give me an imagination "tune up".. when I get too mechanical.. with the cares of this planet.. Maybe many artists can have fun but I can only sense it in a few... they "reach me"..
Those few I reserve a special place of sensory uplift.. re-modeling.. of my creative juices.. Why they "reach me" I do not know but they do.. Maybe I do not need to know.. David is one of them.. ***

A few hours ago in "Wetten dass" from Vienna
One Republic - I lose myself ( with Child Choir of the Vienna State Opera)+ Rock me Amadeus ( with host and child choir)
Michael Buble - Its a beautiful day (live world premiere)
There were also Depeche Mode - Heaven, but I can't watch it in youtube ( not available in your country). One early online review writes they were the biggest embarrasment of the evening, because of the song. I don't know. So if its available in the US, search for Depeche Mode -Heaven - Wetten.
And 50 cent was in the show but just talked.
Here is the original video of " Rock me Amadeus" by Falco ( 1957-1998)

This could be interesting for some members, perhaps also for Emily. As there are many classic videos on arte I found a concert of Fazil Say with the HR Symphonic Orchestra Apart drom Copland- El Salon Mecico and Ravel -Piano Concert G Maior, Fazil Say played "The Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin. And the orchestra played Shostakovitch's 6th Symphonie Emily learns the Rhapsody and will play it in in a few concerts in Connecticut ( I don't know where I read this-))))) . liveweb.arte.tv/de/video/FazilSay_AlteOper_Frankfurt/The Rhapsody begins at 0:40:50. What I have seen the sound quality etc is incredible. Ohhhh, here is the youtube link of the Rhapsody in Blue A fantastic performance of "Summertime" same concert And to finish as Fazil Say is from Turkey here a jazzy "Turkish March"-))) by him
