What a show with David and Emily paired.. doing some of her compositions.. or his.. or both... That would be such fun.. for everyone involved.. Maybe a couple of Cellos and flute..
They could write a piece just for this event... together.... When I'm dreaming I like to think BIG...

80 years ago Glenn Gould was born.
I don't like his interpretations very much but whatsoever he was an important pianist in history. There was a docu on Arte with the harpsichordist Scott Ross who was very critical. He pointed out that Bachs music was written for harpsichord. So every pianist should at least have played a harpsichord once. Then he is able to understand Bachs intentions better.
and
When I hear nutcases like Glenn Gould who do: [plays staccato version of J.S. Bach's Partita no. 1, BWV 825, Allemande], I say he understood nothing of Bach's music! I've listened carefully to his records: he didn't understand. He was very brilliant; I respect him up to a certain point. For me, the fact that an artist doesn't appear in public poses a problem. But at least he was a guy with the courage not to do things like other people. All the same, he was wide off the mark, so wide off the mark that you'd need a 747 to bring him back. I'm hard on Glenn Gould. Well, he's dead now, so I won't attack a colleague. (Scott Ross )

Thanks for the Garrett.. Its true some play around with singing dancing, art and playing instruments but some are truely "gifted"..
Even from youth.. like Fred Astaire at dancing.. he appeared to be strolling, skipping or walking to music not dancing.. John Wayne never appeared to be actually "acting"... The "gifted" appear to be doing whatever they do to music.. even with no music.. And the musically "gifted" seem to be just having fun, even when "intense"... like Mel Torme.. and Emily Bear (and others)...
Is "good" better when done by the "gifted"... probably not good is good.. But "good" is so much a perception.. What a wonderful world we live in to perceive such things.. What amazes me is that some have a low perception of what is good.. about many things and miss them completely or partially..
Wonder what I have missed currently.. when younger I missed a lot.. "Carpe Diem" seems to be the byword.. ***

As we are waiting for new music by Emily perhaps today some brilliant comedy by Hans Liberg (Netherlands) I love how he combines music and comedy!

In memory of the best vocal ensemble " Comedian Harmonist" who had their first concert 84 years ago.
"Wochenend und Sonnenschein" (Weekend and Sunshine)
In 1934 they had another hit
Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus (My little green cactus)
I cannot find anything original on youtube. So I recommend this song by Max Raabe who who also performed at Carnegie Hall.
1935 they had to dissolve because of the Nazis. They founded two different groups.
One group made in 1936 a funny song
Ich wollt ich wär ein Huhn ( I wish I were a hen)
Refrain: I wish I were a hen I wouldn't have much to do. I would lay an egg in the morning and in the afternoon I'd be free. No fame nor money in the world would appeal to me and if I found a fortune, I would eat it straight away.

As Emily again tells us on twitter that she is now practising the Schumann concert - for the concert in Santa Fe? Here some links. Helene Grimauld - Christoph Poppen ( Set 1) (Set 2+3) Here you can see the passion which is needed. And here part of Set 3 by Mitsuko Uchoda and the Berlin Philarmonics. What a shame you cannot watch the whole concert on youtube. Uchida seems to be the best performance - its all but mediocrity. Thats importants because one intentions of Schumann with this concert is his longing for a society and culture without mediocrity. Its nothing worse than to play this piece mediocre.

Hi Petee, you and I and other 500.000.000 people got the Nobel Prize!!!-))) How do you feel? On the other hand 930.000 € : 500.000.000 0,0018€ thats not much-)))
So here the " Ode an die Freude" ( Anthem of EU) in a part version of the 4th set of Beethovens 9. Symphonie by Karajan and the Berlin Philarmonics
By the way, the 9th Symphonie and Karajan are the reason that every CD has a certain size. He wanted that the whole Symphonie got on a CD. So they took at Philipps Wilhelm Furtwänglers Version - the longest known version around 74 minutes- as a limit.
