Children have been entertaining people for a long time, one that comes to mind is Shirley Temple, she saw huge success in the film industry in the 1930's but her popularity peeked before she was 10, Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of Shirley's and I watch her movies whenever I get a chance. But she more or less left the entertainment world by the time she was 21. Did Shirley loose her childhood? I don't know, it is something that you would have to ask her but in any case she grew into a fine adult.
With the coming of the internet and through you tube we see many children with great potential of becoming the next generation of entertainers with that said a person cannot follow all of them but there are four that I do follow.
Connie Talbot - Connie was 6 when she first stepped on the stage of Britain's Got Talent, she won the hearts of the British people and soon the you tube audience. Now at age 12 she continues to sing, but her parents refuse to let Connie loose her childhood to the entertainment world. They do travel the world to let Connie sing mostly in Southeast Asia but the US is a hard market to overcome. She probably could sign with any label she chooses in the US but here is where the problem arises, A new talent in the US needs to promote there product and singers do that by touring and for now this is just off the table for the Talbots they want her to finish school and then when the time comes and there is still a demand for her music, will release her to the world. Personally I think Connie has the potential to become one of the greatest entertainers in the world, but time will tell.
Hollie Steel - Again Hollie is a product of Britain's Got Talent but unlike Connie her preferred music is Classical Crossover and again unlike Connie her dreams move in a different direction. She was born to be in stage musicals. I had the pleasure of seeing her in the Andrew Lloyd Webber production of the "Sound Of Music" in London, she played the part of Louisa and was just wonderful.
At the moment she is attending an acting, dance, singing school in London, she is learning her craft with the support of her parents. I believe someday you will be able to see her on the West End in London or even Broadway in New York. By the way, Emily and Hollie have met at Carnegie Hall in 2010 they were to do a song together but because of time constraints it didn't happen and believe me this was a big loss.
Jackie Evancho - Jackie is taking a different path to stardom, yes she became famous on America's Got Talent but I was following her well before that. She had a forum similar to the one here, but that original one is long gone, but it did give me the opportunity to buy her first CD which is now worth 100's of dollars, but to me it is priceless. I believe this is Jackie at her best before her singing lessons and before she signed with the Sony label. Don't get me wrong I enjoy listening to her today, but I always go back to that first CD.
I don't know where Jackie's path lays, the type of music she sings has a very limited audience but as long as she has that audience she will be successful.
Emily Bear - I'm not gonna say anything about Emily because we all know her and we all love her. What she will be doing in 10 or 20 years is strictly up to Emily be it composing for movies, TV, or orchestras she will be successful.
I have some idea's where her path may lay but for right now she is in the learning process and she has some of the best teachers in the world especially her parents.
These young ladies, and many more, are the future of the music world, I love music, be it the "1812" overture or Adel's "Set Fire To The Rain" or Louie Armstrong's "Hello Dolly" a good piece of music is soothing to the heart and soul.
