Hi Trini, I don't know but I think there will be the compositions of Emily and the sheets. But I think that Quincy wants Emilys music in different arrangements. Perhaps they are some solos but I don't know. But where is the problem, if you want to play Emilys music on your own, no problem, with your friends in a different arrangement why not. Real good music does not mind.
Perhaps you can ask Don. Emilys mother played him on her ipod a song as he told on this forum
"Andrea did play a snippet of a song from the new CD for us, she had it on her ipod, it sounded like a great song, but it was different from what we are hearing from Emily, Emily was not the only performer, speaking of the new CD"(Don)
She learns everything from her mentor. Recording, Mixing, Producing It has nothing to do with the typical modern producing of records.
But I found another interesting cite of Quincy with Entertainment weekly "At the end of a record, I’d take the four that I thought were the weakest out of the other ones and try to find the four that are stronger than anything else on the album. And it always works for me. We went through 800 songs to do Thriller. That’s a lot of songs, man."
So I think that there won't be every 17 songs on Emilys record.
But what do we want the cute Emily or a real artist who has nothing to do with teen acts like Justin Bieber or another casting act. I hope that Emily can show on a show like " Ellen" her real talent. She has to surprise the people who think: Oh she is nice and cute and her music is also.
But I think that Quincy wants something totally different, it has to be a different league than Evancho and Talbot. I don't think that he would produce a CD of them both. I know that members of this forum are fans of them too. But Emily has the possibility to play in the Champions league. That has nothing to do with the number of selling records. Emily wants to be an artist for decades.
Quincy Jones is the most famous record producer of the world!!!
Quincy Jones with entertainment weekly:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You were known to hold some pretty huge talent searches for musicians and singers decades ago. What do you think of shows like American Idol? QUINCY JONES: I think the attraction of American Idol is about the basic human nature attitude that is, “We can put you up there. But we can take you down.” That’s been around a long time. If you’re asking me what the one component that gets them millions of viewers, that’s it. Even more than the songs, I think it’s to see that the audience can control the popularity of the artist. Would you ever be a judge on one of those… No, that’s not what I do. I’ve got too much to do. That’s getting up every day at seven in the morning. That’s not my thing. But it has got its value. It gets people to pay attention to songs. It’s ironic because I hear songs on there like Moody’s “Mood For Love.” Which the first vocalese record James Moody did in Sweden in 1949, man. So it’s exposing people to music they’ve never heard before. That’s the good part. It’s a double-edged sword there.

If you read the names of the artists who releases their albums Concord Records it is the who is who. ( Paul Simon, McCartney...) You can compare it with wine: On the one side is the expensive Bordeaux (Concord Records) on the other side the table wine ( Bieber, Cyrus, Spears etc) Millions buy it but..... There exists also some better table wine like Taylor Swift
If Emily wanted to make a nice, traditional Emily album she needed no Quincy.
About playing music with my friends....I have a friend who plays the flute and a friend who plays the drums. The rest of my friends either sing or don't play any instruments. I just need more solo music!!!! If it is more of an orchestral CD and they have music for five or so instruments, I could probably condense it into a solo piece, but I'm just hoping that there are a few solos on this CD.

Wow Trini, a trio with flute anf drums would be fantastic. " Trinis Trio"-))) You could post your cover versions on youtube.
Do you know the fantastic movie " Finding Forrester" ( there is also " Over the rainbow") with Sean Connery who plays a famous author ( kind of Salinger) who becomes the mentor and friend of a young african-american male teenager. This teen uses the authors text to find his own voice. Use Emilys music to find your own voice so that Bieber etc would be ashamed-))
I - who don't play any instrument ( a bit Blockflöte), sometimes I think that you and some other members of this forum schould show more self-confidence. I watched some videos on youtube. Bieber etc would have no chance against you and the others. Forget the plastic tv world. Its only a show. Only on a few occasions there are real musicians.
And to the mixing. As I said Quincy compares producing with painting. First there is an idea and a sketch. Then you have to fill it with the colours and all details. This kind of producing without computer software has nothing to do with the producing of the most modern pop industry. At 11pm you are the Voice of whatever and at 8am next day they release your album, thats trash!!!!
Haha! I don't doubt my skills...I just don't know how I'd do arranging an orchestral piece for solo piano.
And with all due respect to Justin Bieber...I really can't stand his music. I can't stand most pop music. Sing a few notes into a computer, add autotune, BAM! You're a singer!!! >.< That's not how you do music.

Emily wrote on twitter that she is listening to the first mix of the new CD. Hopefully there are not 92 mixes like on Billy Jean-)))
On facebook she calls it new CD and Soooon So it sounds like master tape???
And there is a nice picture of the recording session.
The piano shall be a Estonia Concert Grand
"I believe this is the first album of this kind to feature the Estonia concert grand. (Qunicy Jones productions selected it for an up coming Concord Record release with young Emily Bear)." cit: pianoworld
Waiting patiently... I have a tidbit of information via the admin of Emily's YouTube (I'm assuming that it's Mrs. Bear), but I don't know if I'm allowed to share it... I'm sure we'll all see it soon, though! ;D
I just saw a post on Emily's Facebook page from someone saying that Emily should connect with Spotify. Emily's mom commented from her personal account and said, "Emily's music will be on Spotify in about 2 weeks! "
This comment from Mrs. Bear was left on Tuesday, which means the album will be released in two weeks, maybe a little less.
I've kind of moved on from my 6-hours-of-playing every day phase, but I'm still super excited about this new CD! Now let's hope that she releases the music for it at the same time...
