Before I come to Jacki Evancho Inwill tell you a story.
Diana Damrau fell in love with the opera when she was at homecalone (12yo) and saw the movie " La Traviata" with Placido Domingo. One year later she told her piano teacher who was also a well known opera voice coach that she should sing at her fathers work place. Damraus piano teacher asked her to sing something. She instantly saw the incredible talent. But only two or three years later they started with Damraus voice and only slowly. Christa Ludwig former world class singervand then professor ar the University Würzburg told in an interview it was a honor for the professors to teach such a talent. Now Damrau is known as the world best "Queen of the night" But as she got older she sings now other parts e.g La Traviata-)))
In a way its irresponsible to let Jackie sing such music at her age. To prove this I listened a few minutescago to " My heart will go on" My hackles raised completly. Its a kind of crime. I know Jackie loves it, but sometimes you have to stop young people for their own good.
I am quite sure that Quincy would never do this. He could earn much money with Emily or Andreas and throw them in the daily circus. But no !!!! He wants to create artists that have success for ages.
Therefore I am a bit anxious that Emilys new album could be too much success too early. There is only one childhood, school friends etc.
And please don't compare Jackies albums production -not Jackie- with Emily and Quincys production.
Only one repost for Diana Damrau ( Jackie could probaly reach such level, but not in the way her "carreer" is handled now!!
Aria Bravura (14:30 - 15:50)!!!!!! Oh my God-))))))
And around 18:00 the highest note in clasical history. This aria wasn't sung for 300 years because of that. Its absolutely insane.
My problem has nothing to do with taste!!!!!

I only want stress that I know that Don and hosepipe are big fans of Jackie, and I respect that totally, although this kind of classical cross over is absolutelynot my taste, therefore Sarah Brightman urgh-))))
But she has only one voice. She wants to perform in the future!!!!

If they are having fun at their age whats not to like.?.. Little kids sing all the time, some better than others.. other are prodigy's..
Emily plays the piano because it's fun... Jackie sings because it's fun.. And for now that is all it is.. when the fun STOPS they should stop..
Like Deanna Durbin did.. went to France and the Suits talked to her "Hand".. i.e. american idiom..
Durbin sang from a young age (well).. and continued with zero problems.. She studied true but she absolutely loved it.. I'll bet when she quit the stage in her late 20's she still sang around the house.. for the fun of it.. Probably still does.. at 90 or so..
Many lecherous parasites with Ivy league credentials want to "FARM" any talent out there like farm animals.. Not all are, but some say most are.. At least Jackie and Emily have good stable (smart) parents.. who know far more than a passerby does on the well being of their charges.. Probably true of Anna Graceman, Umi Garrett and Akiane Kramerik as well.. I wish them all well..

There is a big difference. Responsibility. I wouldn't have thought that I could qoute Emily.
There was one big rule in the Bear household " You can't play what you cannot read!" ( Katie Couric)
They could have easily let her play stuff because of her perfect pitch. But they thought about the future. Thats responsibility!!!!!!
It has nothing to do with Ivy League people. I know the funny scene of Matt Damon and the Harvard Snob in " Good Will Hunting"-)))
Or another example. Dirk Nowitzki had big talent. But its alll about doing it right. He went to the US, got hired but every summer! he goes to Germany and trains several weeks new moves with his old coach in Würzburg ( what coincidence -)))))
Jakie has an inredible god given talent, its all about doing right and not waste it on quick success. She has to sing. But why not simple, lyrical folk songs in the moment or some musical stuff without kitch. The real fans should support this.

Hi Trini, if I am correct there are also some percussion in " Reflection" As they stress the reflections like stones on water.
P.S. hosepipe: Sent you a PN

Hi Trini, if I am correct there are also some percussion in " Reflection" As they stress the reflections like stones on water. I don't hear any percussion, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm really excited about learning the music, but I think I'm the most excited about "Diversity", "Hot Peppers", "Q", "Peralada", and "Reflections." ;D I already learned "Tutti Cuore" by ear about a year ago, but I'm excited to see how close I got to the original version with my less-than-perfect pitch. I am a little curious about how hard "Reflections" will be, since it sounds hard. Then again, I say that about everything I learn. It sounds like it would be a really good show piece. Does anyone know what/who Alika is? I know that Alika is a woman's name, but is Alika like, someone who Emily knows by way of Quincy or something? I wonder if the CD booklet will have some backstories of the pieces. Wouldn't it be cool if Emily wrote pieces based on us? I wonder what mine would sound like. It'd definitely be interesting if she based it on my personality!

I googled "Alika" it means most beautiful or is the Hawaiian form of "Alex". There was also some name of bathroom furniture, but I think Emily doesn't mean this-))))
I had to laugh when heard " Alika" the first time. The beginning reminded me of "Country" by Keith Jarret I posted a few weeks ago.
The percussions are very weak. I only hear them with my ear phone. The beginning of this song reminded me of " The piano"

I was just wondering who, like with Ellen's Song - written in honor of a person -, Emily based "Alika" on. I know that she does base a lot of her pieces on people. Generally, it's pretty obvious when she does. ("Lillian's Love", "Mary's Hope", etc.) A few parts of "Jessie's Song" sound like the beginning of "How It's Meant to Be."

Perhaps some Mc Fly wants us use the flux capacitor-))) I think Emily and her family follow this forum and they will tell New Music School. On this site is the correct date and all informations. Perhaps they are a bit anxous that there will be too many people-)))) If they really promote this they have to go to another venue because the school will burst at the seams.-))) www.oldtownschool.org/concerts/2013/05-10-2013-emily-bear-8pm/
