I have tried to figure out a way to go to this but I just can't make it back to Minneapolis in time to celebrate Christmas with my family. What I'm really hoping for is Tim Janus inviting Emily back to Carnegie Hall again this year, if it's close to the date of last year I have that entire week off. Other wise I probably won't be able to see Emily till Rockford in March of 2013.
and this paragraph I like: “Other than her extraordinary musical gifts, Emily Bear is a regular 11-year-old girl,” said Illick. “She’s composed an orchestral piece for us called ‘Santa Fe.’ I asked her if she wanted to conduct it. She asked me what conducting was all about, and after I told her what she’d have to do, she realized that it was within her grasp.”
Oh, I do hope somebody gets a video of that...and the entire concert...Mrs. Bear? I wish I could be there to see it. I'll be playing Emily's "Silent Night" at my church at the same time the concert starts, though, so that'll be cool. I don't think that anything this cool will ever happen near where I live, though.

Fantastic Sarah, Emily outacts the orchestra in this short sequence, in contrast to the orchestra she shows the needed passion, incredible for an 11year old. It would be fantastic if we could see the whole first movement-)))
Her dress seems to be a kind of modern version of the young Clara Wiecks dresses in the movie Spring Symphonie. So it fits to the music very well!!!

I just discovered that the whole movie " Frühlingssymphonie" is available on youtube, on german-((( So you can compare the dresses, but its an awsome fillm about Robert Schumann and his relationship with Clara Wieck.
You can also compare the lives of a prodigy - Emily -Clara
You can practically learn he backround of the first movement Emily played in Santa Fe. One main point of this concert is the fight of Robert Schumann for Clara. She was the pianist of the world premiere, 13.01.1841,172 years before Emilys concert.
The main theme of the first movement begins with C-H-A-A, italian writing of Chiara, italian version of Clara.( german wikipedia)
Here is another video! Emily playing Peralada with orchestra ;D
Also, on Emily's facebook it says :
''HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! A little present from the Santa Fe Concert (an excerpt from someone's i-phone in the audience & we will try to post a couple more video's from the same source today). ENJOY! ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
Hi-def, complete, edited video (3 camera's) to follow in a couple of weeks...''
So we will have the full concert in 2 weeks ;D I CAN'T WAIT!!!

eulenspiegel: It does not work with my ipad. So perhaps someone can tell me afterwards. It seems that everything Mr Rudetzky streams, broadcasts is only for the elite. That cannot be true.

mastersgttom: Sorry for those who live across the Atlantic that weren't able to get the live stream. Emily played a medley of songs I wasn't completely familiar with except the Bumble Boogie which ended the medley. She was great as usual. Nice ovation.
