As on Saturday there is the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö/Sweden I will post this week a few songs of the Eurovison history.
Somtimes you have to laugh about the songs or he dresses-))))
I start with a swedish day-)))
Mabye the biggest success in Eurovision history and the only one which became a world hit
Abba - Waterloo ( Winner 1974)
Herreys - Diggi loo Diigi ley (Winner 1984)
Carola - Fângad av en stormvind ( Winner 1991)
Charlotte Nilson - Take me to your heaven (Winner 1999)
Last years winner
Loreen - Euphoria

A tease for the next days. Don't get a nightmare-))))
It shows literally the "diversity" of the Eurovision Song Contest. It the next days you will realize that also it is often trash that there is also a social and political aspect of this contest. More than 100.000.000 people all over Europe watch this every year!
The winner from 2006 (Finnland)
Lordi - Rock Halleluja

My first entry today shows - for my opinion - the main reason why this event - in spite of all the trash- should continue. Founded in the 50s as a Chanson Competition and in times when Europe searched for peace after the unbelievable crimes by Germany its now a symbbol for that piece in spite of many differences.
The interval act in Norway 2010 shows this in its best way. It was a dance flashmob through Europe. Also many of these were preproduced in the weeks before the event I have to stress that the flashmobs of the thousands of people in Germany were live!!!
You can also see Princess Mette- Marit and two of her children.
Madcon -Glow
My favourite winner in Eurovision history, because only poano and guitar.
Rockn Roll Kids - Ireland (1994)
This was the third victory of Ireland in a row. Their TV station was literally bankrupt and had no money for a next year event in Ireland.

Yesterday I wrote that Abbas Waterloo was the biggest hit but probably thats not correct.
Also 1958 on third place
Domenico Modugno - Volare
I think everybody knows this!!!
Mabye the most famous recent world star who started her fame by the Eurovivion Song Contest is the 1988 winner for Switzerland. Also she is Canadian.
Celine Dion - Ne partez pas sans moi
Germany has only two times won yet.
Many Germans are a bit ashamed of the first winner because her song, also a big hit through Europe was kitch.
But it was the time of the cold war in the early 80s, people wanted peace and then there was a 17yo girl from Germany with a white guitar!!!! Every thing was planned.
Nicole told in an interview that she realized that she could win this when she saw that an english cleaning lady stopped with her work during the rehearsals just to listen to her song.
So I think she planned the winning performance, because she sang after the announcement in German, English, French and Dutch
Nicole - Ein bisschen Frieden ( A little peace)

Yesterday was the first semifinal. Only last years winner and the big five( because they pay the most money for the contest - Germany, Uk, France, Italy and Spain - don't have to qualify) Often it is not an advantage, the other countries don't like the big five because of their status and they are not able to present their entries in the semifinals.
This years internet favourite Denmark booked its ticket for the final.
Emmilie de Forrest - Only teardrops
There was mostly trash in the semifinals, but the Netherlands - for the 1st time since semifinals exist - booked the final, with a simple, not eurovision like performance-)))
Annouk -Birds
Germany tries it this year with dance floor house music by the well known Cascada.
Here the official video.
Cascada - Glorious
Btw UK tries it with Bonnie Tyler who had her best times in the 80s-))))

Yesterday was the 2nd semi-final.
So first something something for Andreea. ( Don't kick me-))))
Romania
Cezar - Thats my life ( Countertenor in one of the most trashy dresses I have ever seen)
The best was the female host comment after this performance:" At every succesfull man is a woman under the dress"-))))
Here is another favourite who booked the final, with electro pop.
Norway
Margaret Berger - I feed you my love
But there is no Song Contest without Greece-)))
Alkohol is free

Oh Andreea, don't be ashamed-))) Its just strange entertaining. Its eurovision: The worse the song the stranger the dress and performance.Btw. the voice is the best thing at he performance-))))
Russia could win this time with a 0815 pop song and their many neighbour countries. What I cannot understand that even young women have to wear dresses that make them 20 years older-((( We are in 2013. A jeans etc
What If
Btw last years second!!!!! place from Russia-)))))))

In 2 hours starts the big final.
Despite that there is a lot of trash its the world biggest music festival even broadcasted in Australia and up to 120.000.000 people will watch it.
In comparison in the point of preparations and costs the Grammy and Oscars are Elemantary School gigs!!!!
Many countries hope that they won't win because its very expensive!!! To show this here is a short clip from the prepararations in Germany in 2011. At first they had to find a venue without any gig for 6 weeks!!!!
So they had to choose a soccer arena for 50.000 people and rebuild it into a music arena with the world biggest LED wall.
To show the different poles of an eurovision contest here two videos.
First the 2011 Irleland competitors ( They used the LED wall extremely well)
Jedward - Lipstick
But there is also the other side. One of the best songs in the recent years from an Italian Jazz musician Raphael Gualazzi who competed in 2011 in the same german venue.
Madness of Love ( 2nd in this year)

I forgot the 2013 Eurovision Hymn
We write the story
Benny Andersson ( Music) Björn Ulvaeus ( Lyrics) / DJ Avicii
In the meantime it gets interesting because there seem to be some proove that certain countries buy telephone votes in other small countries.-))) students, small groups, each group up to 10 people, each group 1km seperated from each other, if bigger the telephone system would crash
So if you have millions and want a good place to promote your dictatorship , go on -))))
