I just learned that its the Thanksgiving weekend!
Thursday 27.11.2014 Thanksgiving
- Black Friday-
Saturday 29.11.2014 Concert
Don, I just researched. The " Rhapsody in Blue" takes around 16-17 minutes, the Grieg Piano Concert around 30 minutes, so lets say say 50 minutes for both (Dvorak 9th symphony the same time in Santa Fe) , then you could make a break, and after that Emilys own compositions with orchestra. And some on the spot music by suggestions from the audience and perhaps a Medley from Diversity with bass and percussion. And singing!! Perhaps the Adam Sandler Thanksgiving Song-)
But just my own guessing. But it would show Emilys different skils, from classic to jazz to composing to singing

I posted some of the following on the 'members only' part of the site, I have expanded it here:
Having been in the 'music business' for over 40 years, (making home audio equipment), Carol Ann and I are very interested in classical music. We have had the pleasure of hearing some of the best-known and most respected pianists over the years, most recently Jan Lisiecki, Angela Hewitt, Yuja Wang and, just last Saturday, Emily Bear.
Emily, dressed in a lovely, sparkling ivory floor-length gown, was introduced to the audience following the opening number, (Overture from 'West Side Story'). Emily's first number, 'Peralada Suite' with full orchestration, was a combination of three pieces of music Emily had written between 6 and 9 years of age for appearances she made in Peralada, Spain. It was thrilling to hear such a complex and emotional piece of music, and almost impossible to believe it had been written by a small child! Emily went straight from there into jazzy versions of Ellington's 'Satin Doll' and 'Take the A Train', performed with depth and professionalism. Following them she performed her own beautiful arrangement of 'Silent Night' that she had debuted at Carnegie Hall at the age of 9! Emily finished her first half with a medley of her compositions, 'The Love in Us, 'Plain Old Me' and 'Journey to My Heart', again written between the ages of 6 and nine. (!)
After intermission Emily returned, this time in a stunning ocean-blue sleeveless gown, also floor-length, again with sparkles across the bodice, to play Quincy Jones' own arrangement of 'Fly Me to the Moon' that he had done for Frank Sinatra more than 50 years earlier. It is said that hearing Emily play that song when he first met her is one of the things that convinced Quincy he should become her producer, so it must hold a warm spot in her heart. The next piece was 'Reunited', a score Emily wrote for a short film, shown on a screen at the back of the stage. The music was very appropriate, if a bit heart-wrenching in spots. Emily's ability to connect sound with visual cues is entirely fascinating. Following that, Emily introduced an orchestral piece entitled, 'Santa Fe' she had composed for the city in NM, and then left the stage as there was no piano part in it! As might be expected, it was soaring and evocative of the sweeping desert landscape, with a clarity none could expect from an 11-year-old, as she was when it was written. The final scheduled number was the full orchestral version of Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' with Emily performing the entire 20+-minute piece without notes, as of course is her norm. I have to say we were riveted! Emily's range, power, nuance and depth of feeling were at the level of the best in the world. Her command of the keyboard was nothing less than a phenomenon, and that's not taking age into account! This happens to be a very difficult piece even for expert pianists and Emily mastered it in a way I have seldom heard. I have the sense that if George Gershwin could have been in the audience he would have been on his feet, applauding wildly and yelling for more along with the rest of us! We felt we had seen and heard something historic, not just consummate skill, but absolute genius. And I overheard other audience members discussing her in those same terms after the show.
With the audience shouting for encores, Emily favored us with a piece of music from 'Frozen' played while wearing a pair of mittens! Finally she performed her well-known encore piece, 'Bumble Boogie', no mittens this time, but it was as always note-perfect, what else?
The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is a very highly respected venue. The players displayed terrific musicality and cohesion, and it all added up to an evening to remember, something to tell our grandchildren about. We're hoping Emily schedules more orchestral performances into her future appearances. She is sublime in that genre.
