I'm really looking forward to these events, I decided to drive to El Paso, it is kind of a long drive takes 21 hours (reference for our European friends, it's about the same drive from Munich to Moscow). When I saw Emily in February I saw both concerts there, after Emily asked me which performance I like best, I had to think a second because both were nearly identical, but I did enjoy the first because it was fresh and new, the second I knew what was coming. The 2 concerts in El Paso will be different, sounds like the one on Wednesday will be Diversity but I should be able to record the entire thing, The concert on Thursday night sounds more family friendly and more like the concert in Santa Monica and I sure hope to be able to record there and I really hope she sings there espically "Lullaby of Birdland" I really want to get that on tape, so Emily or Andrea if your reading this it's kinda a per-show request...lol...thanks

Hey Don or Emily-) I have another suggestion - today Henry Mancini would be 90 ( born 16.04.1924). What about singing "Moon River" or some piano jazz on the Pink Panther Theme-)
Just an idea!
Here are the lyrics:
Moon River wider than a mile I'm crossing you in style someday Oh dream maker, you heartbreaker Wherever you're going I'm going your way Two drifters off to see the world There's such a lot of world to see We're after the same rainbow's end Waiting round the bend My huckleberry friend, Moon River And me
Moon River wider than a mile I'm crossing you in style someday Oh dream maker, you heartbreaker Wherever you're going I'm going your way Two drifters off to see the world There's such a lot of world to see We're after the same rainbow's end Waiting round the bend My huckleberry friend, Moon River And me
Wouldn't it be nice someone copies the lyrics - distributes it in the audience - Emily plays the piano and the audience sings- or you Don a solo! - it would be a great interactive experience in the memory of one of the great movie composers!
Or today as an extra - Emily, Peter Slavov, the drummer and Zuill Bailey

Emily's set list from tonight, it was either written by Emily or Andrea but notice the spelling of "araignee" I asked Emily if that was correct and she said yes

I really want to hear her re-vamped "Northern Lights" ;D What was the "Finale"? I love Indigo and Araignee; I love listening to her play with a jazz trio. I'm strongly considering minoring in music at college - leaving this August! - and I REALLY want to be able to play some of her jazzier stuff - or even pieces like "Alika" - with other instruments.
It also looks like Emily's gotten taller.

As I thought tonight's concert will be pretty much the same as Santa Monica so hopefully Emily will play the extended Northern Lights and I'm pretty sure she'll be doing Lullaby of Birdland, even though she wouldn't come right out and tell me. As far as requests mentioned in the news video will be the same as Santa Monica, people will give ideas and Emily will put those ideas to music, here is a picture of the musicians from last night Zuill Bailey, Peter Slavov, Kevin Kanner and of cource Emily

Indigo is absolutely fantasic and I think I can detect a small reminescence to "Country" by Keith Jarrett-), when she plays with the melody composed by her. Thats cool - every great musician cited other great musicians!-) Its absolutely OK and often used in jazz. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musikzitat ( sorry no english version) e.g. even W.A. Mozart cited an air of the composer Giuseppe Sarti in "Don Giovanni" or Smetana cited the childrune " Alle meine Entchen" in the " Moldau", but Smetana changed the melody in his leitmotif to minor-) Keith Jarret - Country ( McPartland Interview)
