@themarkmclean: Good morning! #searsoundnyc #NYC #PeterSlavov #JamesFarber #EmilyBear #09/04/15 t.co/dzf0LBSvhdwww.banffcentre.ca/faculty/faculty-member/4593/james-farber/James Farber James Farber was hired in 1978 as an assistant engineer at Power Station Studios in New York City, where he assisted staff engineers Bob Clearmountain and Neil Dorfsman. One year later, he was promoted to staff engineer and spent the next couple of years specializing in recording Haitian “Compas” music. In 1982, Michael Brecker asked Farber to engineer the first Steps Ahead album, jumpstarting the engineer's jazz career. Shortly afterwards, Farber recorded his first session for ECM Records and, to this day, he continues to engineer most of the NYC ECM jazz dates. In 1984, Farber began a three year collaboration with producer Nile Rodgers, recording albums for Mick Jagger, The Thompson Twins, Sister Sledge, and Al Jarreau. It was during his time with Rodgers when Farber left Power Station to become a freelance engineer. After his tenure with Rodgers, Farber recorded James Taylor’s albums “Never Die Young” and "New Moon Shine." From 1988 to the present, Farber has remained busy as one of the world’s foremost jazz engineers, having worked with such artists as Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Paul Motian, John Scofield, and Brad Mehldau. www.allmusic.com/artist/james-farber-mn0000143439/creditswww.allmusic.com/artist/james-farber-mn0000143439/awardsGrammy Award 2013 A Savor Flamenco Best World Music Album 2012 A Unity Band Best Jazz Instrumental Album 2005 A Overtime Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album 2002 A What Goes Around Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album 2000 A 52nd Street Themes Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance

I hope this new CD gets a lot of positive reviews by the professional critics, and not just from a bunch of mush and gush fans. I hope she sells a lot of them as well... :-)

Any rumors/updates on her upcoming CD? Release date? Is she still connected with the Concord jazz label or has she gone totally independent again?

I have noticed that Emily no longer has any connection with the Concord Jazz Label according to her website, www.emilybear.com. Looks to me that she is a free agent again or perhaps she has been scooped up by another label. Perhaps, Don might know what is going on???

The last time I asked Andrea about this, she told me Quincy would be involved in the next CD
