I made my pre-order almost the moment it was posted so I am really "stoked" and am anxious for its arrival. I was a little surprised that there were no new songs on this CD. I was under the impression there were some new compositions she had done and were targeted for this EP. But I am not disappointed, one of my favorites, Indigo, is on the CD and hopefully I was one of the first to order and will get one of her signed copies.

You have to remember that the recordings were in New York in September 2015, shortly after Stuttgart. Even "134 West" which she premiered a few weeks later in Joe's Pub is not on the EP.

That certainly makes sense. I had forgotten about that recording session in 2015. I remembered the comments Emily made during her interview with Conductor Larsen prior to her Greig concert about her having written some new jazz tunes and when she announced a new CD was coming out I just deduced that some of those new tunes were going to be on this EP. I was wrong obviously but that's okay, I would have bought this CD no matter what was on it. "134 West" is also one of my favorites.

In the Rockford talk there were people who were not every day followers. Perhaps some of them knew about the Diversity album. The question is if a complete album was planned and rhen cancelled or if this is a kind of try and there will be a complete album later, like Nikki Yanofsky. In these days it a question of financing a high quality album. People don't buy physical albums anymore. Most of music today is streaming. There are a few artists who earn. oney with albums today but even Lady Gaga need the concerts. Earning money with albums - very rare. Perhaps Adele, Taylor Swift. Lady Gaga learned by collaborating with Tony Bennett that there are still live recording sessions, very rare in these times. Or you cobble together these kind of quick albums like Jackie Evancho's christmas album where many things are pre produced. But quality albums, with qualiy mastering booking a recording studio for three days, engineer, marketing etc etc. Perhaps Emily will concentrate on the next month on her new music and record in this genre a complete album. But this will take time. I think "Remember" is a early version of the songs

What a very nice write up this was on Emily. It's been awhile since I have read anything as insightful as this piece was, I tip my hat to the author. I hope this helps Emily to sell more CD's.
