She seems to take it seriously now. So I thought to make a thread.
On instagram she labels herself as
"Emily Bear Singer. Songwriter. Piano Player. Music maker. As seen on the Ellen show. emilybear.com"
So it seems true what she implied in the interview video with Steve Larsen.

I hope she uses her natural voice more, and not that forced one that she sung with on the now defunct Queen Latifah show. I thought it was a mini train wreck. However, her piano playing was as always brilliant!

I hope she uses her natural voice more, and not that forced one that she sung with on the now defunct Queen Latifah show. I thought it was a mini train wreck. However, her piano playing was as always brilliant! Sorry,to disagree. At first this was her natural 12 yo voice without any helping sound effects used by all the Jackies, Connies, Lexis, etc etc. till today. Jackie Evancho does not sing in her natural voice at least in the Brightmannish horrible cross over stuff, it has nothing to do with classical singing, it lacks all the technique. You can compare it in the violin music with Vanessa Mae. Last week? Julia Fischer interviewed David Garret and both made kind of fun of Vanessa Mae. I would have upload it here in the offtopic thread but there are no subtitles yet. Jackie Evancho now sings as a 16yo also pop genre. IMHO it fits her far more better but most of the times you find still only recordings with some voice effects, I don't know if there are there at the live performances? Connie Talbot still uses this absolute horrible reverbaration effects on all her videos. Only on a few she don't and then she crashes in the silent lyrical parts - sorry @don. Emily sang at Queen Latifah with her natural voice - as a 12 yo - not trained for years as all the ....but she. Its not forced. You have to have a strong basis of the voice not using all the effect normaly used by all this called talents. If you hear the Voice Kids talents live most of the times you will be dissapointed. Yes you hear that Emily had to work at her breathing technique but she was only 12, a small 12 yo,girl with no big volume, she was sitting! same time playing piano! first time on national television, but you only hear this because she had the guts to sing without all this reverbaration. There exists a performance of Will Smiths daughter at Quern Latifah, absolutely horrible amd talentless. Emily has talent, her voice print especially in the lyrical overtone parts... My only fear was that she would sing in the pressed musical kind of way. But no. I reallywait for her album hoping without any effects used to pimp the voice as today is in over 90%. Most of the times its for the worse. you heard really her soul, her feelings and thats far more than you hear most of the time by all the Jackies, Connies, Lexis, Amiras... Do you realy think that Quincy Jones would have let her sing there if he did not see her talentLets wait 10 years - Emily isa kind of person who really works, and you have to work at your voice, technoque etc. She does not need not be a Nikki Yanofsky but @don please tell Conny Talbot that she does not use this hortible reverbaration effect anymore -; as in most of her videos. She should see Jacob Collier as arolr model. Yes he uses at some paets all the harmonization but when jhe just sings even in his videos, no auto tune etc.

I saw Emily on Queen Latifah and heard the pitch problem... BUT also noticed the very Sweet TONE... She could have the sweetest vocals with training.. I know she is a musician but theres "that voice".....
Sadly she listened to her own vocal and probably decided not to do that anymore... she has an ear for pitch.. BUT her voice has possibilities I think..... she not Jackie Evancho but who is?... I think her voice would be special.... trained.. for a few special songs..

I have enormous respect for Quincy Jones, but I don't always agree with him on everything. I thought she sounded forced, but I also do think that she has a lot of potential. By the way, my reference to her performance as a "mini train wreck" was a bit harsh.... so sorry about that.
In regards to Jackie Evancho, hosepipe, there are a lot of other singers that I prefer over her.
I also agree that a lot of those other singers mentioned above do get some help with a very good sound system.

It was pitch perfect from voice. Th problems with some notes came from the breath problematic. This song is diffcult in his singing style far more difficult what Jackie Evancho has ever sung. She has a nice soprano but from the beginning she is mimicking opera singing, yes mimicking as most of all the so called cross over talents, because it has nothing to do with opera/clasical singing. Most of the times the same songs presented in a kitsch way. Nessun Dorma, O Bambino Caro. Urgh. At these songs most of the people don't hear the missing techniques etc. but here Lets wait 10 years and if all the Jackies, Amiras etc made a classical training - perhaps they can stand a comparison. In the moment its only mimicking but which brings a lot of money. Its quite funny when you compare Amira Deutscher when she sings she has more talent. By most of the so called talents its only mimicking show. If they should sing Girl from Ipanema they would haveno chance and no chance even to untrained Emily Bear. There is one point why it was problrmatic to let Emily sing. Most of the viewers today know only this piped up performances. now there are 3 more years and I think Emily trained At Queen Latifah there was a 12yo who did not piped up anything or copied anythng. If she reaches with training Diana Krall etc. it will be far more what all the Jackies etc. will ever get. Perhaps they will earn money but from the vocal perspective. There are literally thousands and thosands of professional singers who sing better than all the Jackies etc.

For me, it has been a big surprise to hear that Emily is making an Pop/R&B-Album. The older I get (born in 1959!), the more I am focused on Jazz, Soul and Blues. So I was fine with my own imagination of Emilys future I had until this morning: Film Scores and Commercials for Money, Jazz on Stage and on CD more for Fun. I never expected R&B. And I never expected her to sing. For me, it is a mixed bag. Here is why: 1.) I have had the Hope that her next Album would be full of Jazz. It is unlikely that Emily will mix R&B with Jazz, so it seems I have to wait. 2.) Her Voice seems far better now. But one should consider that there is a huge difference between Studio recordings and Live singing on stage these days. 3.) What is Emilys long-term objective with such an Album? Is she really trying to start a career in this genre? There is a lot of competition... Or is she just busy to throw a lot of different balls on the wall to see which one will stick? A lot of questions. Emily never ceases to surprise me. Despite this questions, I am awaiting more samples of her coming Album. And I will give it a try. It was long time ago that I bought my last Pop/Rock-CD, but possibly it is time....

I will assume it will be with PRA RECORDS, the same group that handles her bookings.

It was long time ago that I bought my last Pop/Rock-CD, but possibly it is time.... I don't know if it will a R&B Album. She just has fun exploring /learning all kinds of different music genres. "Lately, she has been singing and writing all genres of pop music with many of the top songwriters and producers in the industry." So she takes kind of classes in pop music, she improves her voice. Her voice can't be perfect. What I really like about it ...she does not try to cover her imperfection up like most of the so called singing talents. No reverbaration effects etc. One can still hear some voice shaking. But thats natural and correct and necessary! She is authentic! As you pointed out she has to sing her songs live, playing e.g. at the piano - live! I don't think that its Emily 's main goal to start a career. She has to learn all the modern techniques - as she told in the Rockford talk. And she still was 14yo when she sang this. In the coming years she has to develov/train her voice. But she has time. Its not about sucess in the moment its about learning/trying. When she is 25.. The main point is - jus having fun!!! And the song - just imagine it would be sung by a real grown up/ famous R&B singer - it really has hit potential! But its totally right that she sings it. And in the end of the teaser the beat effects!
