So I went back to thinking Chopin (the competition, remember) and wanted to share the one composition I value the most by this master composer. It's well known, but just maybe, some of you are not so familiar with Chopin's work.
The story behind this piece is that it was made after the failed Polish Uprising against Russia in 1830-1831 called November Uprising.
I also like the interpretation in this performence. Clearly a pianist who understands the story behind the masterpiece. (And you can find interpretations missing the feel too). And thought it is not the perfect representation of Chopin's work, I love the emotion behind it.
Now, how I would love to hear Emily interpret this piece. Not now maybe, she's still young for it I imagine (although probably I underestimated her abilities just now) but in some years. My father, who's an amature pianist, says this etude is devilishly difficult, as it mostly involves your left hand.
The other thing I could not get out of my head was how long before we can hear a masterpiece of this magnitude composed BY Emily Bear. I'm SURE she is capable (actualy, will be... I'm just impatiently looking into the future already).
This is so exciting really. I feel lucky to know about the talent Emily is.
What do you think?
*edit: Looked up some live performences. When dad said it was hard, he meant it. You can see it clearly as you watch it live. Take a look here:
(even this guy makes 2 (seems to me) mistakes)

Just thought I'd say, I had this song as a demo on my digital piano and was dying to know what it was called. Thanks for posting this! Now I finally know!
