Hi Sarah, sad as it sounds in the moment I am glad when christmas is over. Its quite a horror in Aachen because of the many tourists who want to visit the christmas market.
So here something funny from 2002. The german punkrock band " Die Ärzte" made their mtv unplugged concert and called it Rock'n Roll Realschule. They made their concert in the Albert Schweitzer Gymasium, Hamburg with the school band.
"Manchmal haben Frauen"

Would'nt it be nice to make the mtv unplugged concert with your school band-))))

I was able to go and see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra yesterday night. I really like it because it's a cross of classical and rock music. These are some of the videos I got.

A few hours ago four!!!! world stars in the biggest TV show in Europe " "Wetten dass" Kind of strange for americans, s show for three hours without any ads. There was a big discussion last month because Tom Hanks sat three hours on the couch-)))) and got a funny hat on. Here a very funny bet from two girls a few years ago. They tasted "pacifiers" and called the products name-))))) But here the stars from yesterday First Pink "Try" and then Rihanna "Diamonnds" and Alicia Keys "Girl on fire" and Lang Lang If you knew the music acts in this show in the last 30years you would be surprised. Here is a list of the guests and music acts in the last 30years de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Wettpaten,_K%C3%BCnstler_und_Stadtwetten_der_Fernsehshow_%E2%80%9EWetten,_dass..%3F%E2%80%9C The best moment was in the first year1981. The to this time famous actor Karl Heinz Böhm son of the famous conductor Karl Böhm returned from Africa and and made a bet in the show. If he gets 1.000.000 Deutsche Marks he returns to Ethiopia and spends the money there. He got 1.7 Mio quitted acting returned to Ethiopia founded "Menschen für Menschen". Then he rescued an ethiopean girl who only had few days to live because of starving, adopted her, married an ethiopean woman and got also two children with her-)))) This would be a fantastic show for Emily with her jazz trio. P.S. Something for hosepipe David Garett in Wetten dass 2011 and the Leipzig Symphonic Youth Orchestra The to this time host Thomas Gottschalk ( you all know him as the strange german cook from Sister Act II) as conductor.

At first I wanted to post a video of " An American in Paris" because 84 years ago was the world premiere but when I searched in youtube for a video I found the concert of the New York Philarmonicss with Lorin Maazel in North Korea. I saw the concert on TV but what really blew me away then was the Korean song played by the orchestra. So here
"Arirang" New York Philarmonics -Lorin Maazel

Here some present for hosepipe again Every year there is a big Charity Gala - The Jose Careras Gala in German TV for the fight against leukemia. In the recent years they got more than 100.000.000 € David Garrett was there, too . You cann see him from 0:24 After the music you can see a short interview with him and some pictures of him playing in a hospital for children with cancer. I do not know how long this video is available, because the TV stations have to delete the videos after a certain time. When I find a video of Davids gig in youtube I will change the link. www.ardmediathek.de/das-erste/shows-im-ersten/jos-carreras-gala-2012-teil-2?documentId=12791534

As Emily seems to like "Leonhard Bernstein" here are some of his Harvard lectures
(2)
I tried to copy the other links but the videos do not start:
In his lectures Bernstein deals with musical phonology, syntay, semantics, musical crises of the 20th century and future. If you search in youtube for Bernstein Harvard lectures youwill find them. I hope I do not bore you but these lectures are fantastic!!!!
I hope Emily like them - if she did not know them allready - too-)))

Congratulation, Trini!!! Best wishes to all members for Christmas Days without any "stress". From Aachen to the whole world-))) www.eifelmomente.de/albums/Nordeifel/Winter/2012_12_07_Aachener_Weihnachtsmarkt/2012_12_07_-_142_Aachen_DNG_DRI_bearb.jpgHere a whole recording of the " Weihnachtsoratorium" from 2010 which was made for german free tv and is broadcasted this year again. The sound qualtiy and qualtiy of the musicians is incredible!!!!! Peter Dijkstra - Bayrischer Rundfunkchor There was also a short docu of the rehearsals for this concert. As members of the choir are all professionals, their job is to sing in this choir-))) - I think one of my dream jobs- they are one of the world best choirs.
