As there is not much traffic today on this board, something for the boring and grey November day. Perhaps its also quite interesting for Emily.-)))
The original " Das doppelte Lottchen" ( Double Lotti) The different Hollywood " Parent traps" are only cheap copies.I think Emily met Dennis Quaid. 1951 this movie was awarded for best movie, best Director and best script at the German movie awards. It was a big success and was disussed because Kästner wrote in a childrens book about divorce, created a modern woman, single parent. And there was some negative aspects of the father. His girls got all the characterization normally only boys got at this time: Bravery, Honesty, Charity ( german wikipedia) It also was a kind of story of initiation.
Sadly its in Hungarian, the original german version and the subtitled English version were disabled in youtube. What a shame!!!!
The script was written by Erich Kästner himself!!! and you can see him in this movie as the storyteller. Its also quite nice for its music and there is also a szene where you can see one twin in Vienna watching her father a conductor , conducting " Hänsel und Gretel"
Also its in Hungarian I think everybody knows the story and " understands" it. I thinks its one of the best children movies because its true to the book without any Hollywood kitsch. Emily could use at training her movie music scoring skills.

As 169 years ago Charles Dickens published his "Christmas Carol" I found on youtube my favourite movie version from 1984 For the german speaking members. If you search for " Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte 1984" you will find the german version of this movie.
