As Emily is according to Quinc Jones the 360 Degree package, why not an album
called
(Musical) Sketches / Graffiti
In which Emily selects her best on the musical spot stories.
e.g. Yale Story or this
Then select the best genre and orchestration solo, duo ( Vilolin, Cello, Trumpet, Flute etc) Jazz Trio, Orchestra, Big Band. Pop, etc..
with voice/choir perhaps with help/ collobaration of Jake Runestad
So we would also get an album version of "The Voyage"
So she could also start an interactive competion. - perhaps on youtube like Hilary Hahn - people should , tell her on video write her stories and she will compose on the spot. the best story and which is used in the album gets a price, tickets, mentioning on the album etc
As Ron Sadoff pointed out " If Emily could do it all . she would be the one!" Why not doing it all?
And then a duo: Emily Bear - Hilary Hahn A dream!
Someone on facebook with a similar idea:
I have no clue about making cds, but when I fall on my head I sometimes come up with ideas, and today I fell on my head twice in a row.
So here are some random ideas:
A) For an album, you could take a story and devide it into pieces, like chapters in a book. For the topic use anything that inspires you.
For example, a topic like "Universe and evolution" could look like this:
1. Big Bang as an intro(bang your forehead on the piano to make the sound^^), then smoothly go over into expantion of space and time
2. Planets and Galaxies forming, mysterious energies flowing through the cosmos
3. Solar systems are spinning and dancing like a happy space family
4. After they slow down, first life expresses itself into the physical realm of planet earth
5. Life in the ocean becomes fishes, and the fishes are looking for Nemo
6. Flowers and trees are growing all over the world. Life is everywhere. Butterflies are born, rabbits jumping around, and a little brown bear is collecting honey and gets stung in the bum by a bumble boogie.
7. The sky is blue, the ocean is dancing, funny animals everywhere, big party in the jungle with Mogli.
8. Human beings in harmony with eathother, men protect woman and children. They´re traveling, having adventures, experience light and shadow.
9. The madness and sadness of war arises.
10. Out of that the desire for a better world is born.
11. Then the expansion of human conciousness into spiritual realms of heavenly beauty
12. Spiritual beings live in harmony with the cosmos and play and create life the way they want, ´til the black hole sucks the physical realm back into the heart of the universe where everything and everyone melts together in a bright shining light of cosmic love.
The idea here is to give the CD a personality. It´s not just a song list, it´s a living world. And listening to it would be take you on a nice journey.
Once you´ve done that, you decide what kind of music fits the subject.
(whisper: "orchestra")
For inspiration you can go to a planetarium, visit a museum, watch documentaries or just use your imagination.
Besides all this I´m 100% for orchestra! And also for the big bang with the forehead.
B) Another random idea for composing in general: forget everything anyone has every tought you about music and create something entirely new. No classic, no jazz, no pop, no music in a box, just pure natural creativity. Emily Bear in her fullest freedom. Wouldn´t that be a fun experiment? No rules, no limits, just sound and creativity.
