I've just entered a talent competition on the internet called 'Quidco Has Talent' (Quidco is a UK internet company). One of the rules is that you have to wear their hat in your video. And this is my entry for the competition:
It is completely silly. But just a bit of fun.
Alice
PS. I use the term 'piano prodigy' very loosely here. The only person I consider a true prodigy is Emily Bear.
That is a great video, not only do you play the piano well you have a great sense of humor...oh and a few hat problems but thats ok you handled it well, lol

Hi Alice,
At first moment I thought that your video is for some serious competition (I didn't know what word silly means, you know my bad english). However, during watching it I stood serious only for first minute and then I had to laugh. ;D
I have to admit I would like to play the piano like you. And even you play my very favourite songs (Le Onde, Comptine d´un autre été: l´après midi, I Giorni).
The top winners must have been quite awesome to top that video of yours. I thought it was very well done. I'm glad that you are happy that you got some nice prizes in the end though.
Wii! Did that come with the music game? The one segment where you pretend to play handbells is rather ok. You would likely have more fun actually playing music on the piano though.
I found out last week that I won 3rd prize in this talent competition. I won a Nintendo Wii and an i-pod. So I am really happy

That's very nice you won 3rd place in that competition. You don't believe me but yesterday I was thinking about that competition and how it is continuing. I want to congratulate you to this achievement and I think you won very nice prizes. I wich you the best and many other successes.
I saw Lang Lang at the BBC Proms in London last year. Best entertainment ever. Two hours of just Lang Lang, no orchestra. The only additiion was half an hour when Lang Lang was accompanied by 9 year old Marc Yu from California (can you believe, he flies to Shanghai once a month for his piano lesson). You might find a forthcoming concert interesting, it's Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. That's at the Royal Albert Hall next Saturday, but I strongly suspect it's all sold out.
This info about it:
After their duelling-keys performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue at the 50th Grammy Awards, the hottest pianist on the classical music planet, Lang Lang, and iconic jazz pianist, Herbie Hancock, will join forces for an extraordinary performance at the Hall.
Lang Lang and Herbie will be performing a programme that will include Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in arrangement for two pianos and orchestra, Vaughan Williams' Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra plus solo, duo and four hand repertoire for piano accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by John Axelrod.
Heralded as the 'hottest artist on the classical music planet' by the New York Times, 26-year-old Lang Lang has played sold out recitals and concerts in every major city in the world and is the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic and the top American orchestras. In August 2008, over 5 billion people viewed Lang Lang's performance in Beijing's opening ceremony for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad where he was seen as a symbol of the youth and future of China. He has played with the world's best orchestras and with the most renowned conductors.
Herbie Hancock is a true icon of modern music with an illustrious career spanning five decades and 12 Grammy® Awards. He began playing piano at the age of seven years old and later won the attention of the legendary Miles Davies joining his band from 1963-1968. Hancock was one of the first jazz musicians to embrace the use of synthesizers and explore funk, resulting in many 'cross over' successes like 'Cantaloupe Island', 'Watermelon Man', 'Chameleon' and 'Rockit'. His 2007 album, 'River: The Joni Letters' won the 2008 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, only the second time a jazz album has won the award.
The Philharmonia Orchestra is one of the world's great orchestras. Acknowledged as the UK's foremost musical pioneer, with an extraordinary recording legacy, the Philharmonia leads the field for its quality of playing, and for its innovative approach to audience development, residencies, music education and the use of new technologies in reaching a global audience.

Hi Allegra,
Congrats to your price. I enjoyed your video very much, and I think it will be quite a time until I get as good as you. And it is a nice price. Do you know that they will soon release a WII karaoke game with Connie Talbot? And an ipod is great, I have my whole CD collection on my mp3, and I found it is very usefull when practicing new pieces to listen to other people playing them.

eulenspiegel2: most things have some delay because of the custom service...and very likely Emily and Abigail did not pay for speed shifting/transport...

Ursula: Unfortunately I can't read the German forum. Sigh. Too bad they haven't said anything. You'd think their lawyers would come out with a statement at the least. And they keep posting on social media like everything is normal.

Ursula: Also why is that other forum in German. Why not English?

eulenspiegel2: it is a German forum...about German pop singer... you may be surprised...but the USA is not the center of the world - it is like US people coming to Europe wondering why not signs in English ..

ursus: Ursula, Google Translate works very well if you translate from German into English and you just need to understand the meaning of what was written. It does still require an understanding of German if you want to use it to post in that language.

ursus: IIRC B&B's lawyers have until 9/23 to respond to the lawsuit. It would not make sense for them to make a public statement before that. B&B themselves have undoubtedly been instructed not to say anything either. That makes sense to me.

mastersgttom: For the benefit of all the members and the guests who visit this site be advised that there is a You Tube video out there of Barlow and Bear doing a live stream. The video was posted by Epic Wonderland. Where she got it I have no clue.
Mar 8, 2024 12:53:33 GMT -6
mastersgttom: The video of the live stream cannot be found on any of their social media platforms. At least from any of my feeble attempts. The video is a bit hard to watch because the audio is totally out of sync with the video.

mastersgttom: What I got out of the video was that it had nothing to do with Moana. They were very mum about their work on that movie. Bling Ring came up in some of the comments. A bit odd that they have a live stream out there, writing music, and not making it public.

mastersgttom: Wow! I just noticed that it has been a little over a year since anyone has posted anything in this Shoutbox. Eluenspiegel was the last one. I messaged him this discovery a week ago but haven't heard back. He used to be the most active member here.
