I talked briefly with Lauren last month and I swear she has grown 2 inches since then She's wearing heels; I noticed that she looked about a mile tall too, until I noticed her shoes.

I'm actually super psyched about learning Q. I haven't been motivated to learn anything, especially anything classical even though there's a ton of stuff I want to learn (I know; shame on me), so I've been getting pretty bored without a challenge. I've never played any jazz (beyond Take Five and Emily's Jazz Angles) and Q sounds pretty complicated. I dunno; I've never seen sheet music. But considering I'm a jazz newbie, Q should be a good challenge.
I actually HATED playing long-short rhythms when I was little; I thought they sounded ridiculous.

Most excited about listening to or learning? I know that we've heard some of the full pieces - Diversity and Q, for instance - but there are several which we've only heard parts of. Pianists, which piece are you most excited about playing? I'd have to say Q, Reflections, and Salsa Americana are on my top list to learn. Q, because I've never really played much jazz, so it'll be a good challenge, and it's a really awesome piece. Reflections sounds hard, but that's what I've said about all of the other pieces by Emily that I've learned. Salsa Americana sounds like it'll be just plain fun to play. I'm excited about Tutti Cuore, but mostly because I'm curious to see how close I got it by ear to the real version. ;D

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the new style of the forum, but it looks largely the same.

Oh no Trini, do you really want to be Emily some kind of Taylor Swift, and choose the names of her songs by her former boyfriends-)))) Sorry I could not contain myself-))) LOL, NO WAY! I was just wondering who, like with Ellen's Song - written in honor of a person -, Emily based "Alika" on. I know that she does base a lot of her pieces on people. Generally, it's pretty obvious when she does. ("Lillian's Love", "Mary's Hope", etc.) A few parts of "Jessie's Song" sound like the beginning of "How It's Meant to Be."

Hi Trini, if I am correct there are also some percussion in " Reflection" As they stress the reflections like stones on water. I don't hear any percussion, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm really excited about learning the music, but I think I'm the most excited about "Diversity", "Hot Peppers", "Q", "Peralada", and "Reflections." ;D I already learned "Tutti Cuore" by ear about a year ago, but I'm excited to see how close I got to the original version with my less-than-perfect pitch. I am a little curious about how hard "Reflections" will be, since it sounds hard. Then again, I say that about everything I learn. It sounds like it would be a really good show piece. Does anyone know what/who Alika is? I know that Alika is a woman's name, but is Alika like, someone who Emily knows by way of Quincy or something? I wonder if the CD booklet will have some backstories of the pieces. Wouldn't it be cool if Emily wrote pieces based on us? I wonder what mine would sound like. It'd definitely be interesting if she based it on my personality!

Don't brag, Petee... Some of us aren't so lucky. Last time I got something from her, she wrote a note on the envelope and sent me something extra.

Trini, I read a few of the comments on your new video. Sorry to disagree, but there are worlds between Emilys old CDs and ner new one. I know that you want to play the sheets music. Nobody stops you.-))) Her old productions are - although the music was fantastic - elementary school basketball. Now she is in the NBA. Although she still grows, this production outclasses over 90% of the recent music productions even Grammy winners. There is no software music!!!!!! And there will be demo tapes of the other songs. They recorded 17 songs I think. So mabye later.-))) Thats the difference between Emily and Jackie Evancho. She plays only with the best. Jackie is an extraordanary talent. But Sarah Brightman, no!!!!!!!!!!!!-(((((((((((( Her idols should be Diana Kamrau etc. not wannabe opera singers. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE the previews of the pieces on the CD. But there is a part of me that enjoys plain, solo piano music. Plus, I'm worried that some of the pieces won't sound quite right without percussion. Then again, I'm sure Emily has thought through that already. I'm guessing that she didn't compose most of those pieces at her house with a jazz trio...

And THAT is why I hate it when people say, "She's good, but there's a lot of kids who can play this classical piece better." And I'm like, "Um...nobody says she's the next Mozart because she plays classical music...but last I checked, there's NO 11 year old who composes like she does." I also prefer original artists to people who can play music written by other people.

I have to admit I haven't ordered the CD, since it is being released on May 7th that is the day I'm traveling to LA. My mailman has a tendency to leave packages by my door if it doesn't fit into my mailbox, I don't mind this at all if I'm home but I'll be gone till the weekend and that's just to long to be sitting in the open. I'm sure I'll be able to get it in LA but probably won't be able to listen to it till I return home, yes I'll probably be able to download it from itunes to my ipod but it's just not the same as listening to it on a CD with a good set of headphones. Don Unless you have an unusually small mailbox, the CD should fit. The postman can usually fit even the songbooks into our mailbox...even if they do come out somewhat bent. :\ You could always order it and get it shipped to a friend's house just for safekeeping till you get back! I made a video to go with "Diversity" celebrating Emily's performances:

Emily's new site is up! ;D There's nice long previews of the pieces on her CD, too; it sounds like Northern Lights, Jazz Angles, and Italia all got fancied up for this new CD; SO EXCITED!!!!! I think I'm more excited about this CD than is normal for a person.
